University Library
Our award winning £32 million David Wilson Library is based on main campus. It is a stunning light, airy five-storey building providing state-of-the-art facilities for all our students. We invest over £6 million a year in our Library.

The David Wilson Library is well-equipped to meet your needs, with:
- Over 1500 study spaces
- More than a million printed volumes
- A digital library comprising thousands of electronic journals and 350,000 books
- 24 hour opening during term-time
- Graduate School Reading Room
- Group study rooms
- Bookshop and café
Computing Facilities
- We have around 1,400 computers at the University.
- Access to some computers is available 24 hours and at weekends
- Wi-fi hotspots on campus
Your Students’ Union
Run by students for students the Students’ Union is here to represent, support and entertain you. This year has seen the £16m redevelopment of the Union building. Brand new facilities provide everything you will need, including:
- Nourish a student shop
- Rymans for stationary
- The student bar, The Scholar
- The 1923 restaurant
- Starbucks
Societies
Joining societies is a great way of meeting like-minded people, having fun and trying something new. With over 180 different societies you can participate in a huge range of activities – sport, media volunteering, charity fundraising (RAG), performing arts, music, politics plus the specialist and zany.
02 Academy Leicester
Opened in September 2010 the O2 Academy Leicester consists of three fantastic venues with students able to get priority tickets for many of these events. Artists performing in just the first term included Professor Green, Plan B and The Magic Numbers.
Arts on Campus
The arts are a valuable and thriving part of campus life. Embrace Arts at the RA (Richard Attenborough) Centre has a packed programme of music, dance, art exhibitions and comedy. It houses a 180-seat performance area, gallery space, studios and a cafe bar.
Sport

Sport is an important feature of Leicester student life. Our accessible and modern gym facilities on campus and in the Oadby student village allow you to unwind, keep fit or train for competition. With more than 30 sports clubs welcoming students at any level, there are opportunities for everyone. Clubs range from football, rugby and hockey, to snowboarding, surfing and Tae Kwon-Do.
Our sports facilities include pitches for football, rugby, cricket and lacrosse along with a floodlit all-weather pitch, five a side pitch, nine tennis courts, an athletics track, two sports halls, a weights room, two health and fitness clubs and squash courts.
Bursaries
At least one bursary per term is awarded by the Sports Association to assist sportsmen and women to pursue their chosen sport. Bursaries are not guaranteed but are awarded on merit.
