The School of Archaeology and Ancient History is pleased to offer three bursaries for October 2012 entry to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. The bursaries are worth up to £2,000 a year and will be paid as a reduction in the course fee. The bursaries are open to UK/EU and international (i.e., outside the EU) applicants.

We welcome applications from those looking to work in areas compatible with the research interests of our staff, which cover:

  • Ancient History
  • Bioarchaeology
  • Greek Archaeology
  • Historical Archaeology
  • Prehistoric Archaeology
  • Roman Archaeology

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the University's standard academic and English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants will also hold - or expect to hold by October 2012 - a Masters degree in archaeology, ancient history, or a related discipline.

The bursaries are open to suitable UK/EU and international (i.e., outside the EU) applicants. The bursaries are for campus based study only and applicants must be able to commence their studies in October 2012.
