PGCE Secondary Education

Duration and mode of study

One year full-time. Students spend 24 of the 36 weeks in school-based placements.

Start Dates

September each year.

Entry requirements

In addition to a relevant degree, applicants must have a GCSE or equivalent grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics. Please consult our website to find detailed explanations of recruitment and selection processes and criteria for each subject specialism.

  • English with Media Studies
  • Modern Languages
  • History
  • Geography
  • Social Science
  • Citizenship Education
  • Mathematics
  • Mathematics with Physics
  • Biology with Core Science
  • Chemistry with Core Science
  • Physics with Core Science
  • Co-ordinated Science

Students following a Science subject course are also required to follow a second subject course in a complementary Science.
