Entry requirements
Normally at least a lower second class honours degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a related discipline. Overseas applicants will, in addition, be required to satisfy an English Language requirement.

Course aims
The course accommodates the breadth of modern Physical Chemistry by providing individually tailored taught programmes in advanced Physical Chemistry topics (Electrochemistry, Atmospheric Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Nanoscience, Analytical Chemistry). The course seeks to meet the demands of graduating chemists who wish to further their training in Physical Chemistry research or who wish to use this qualification as a route into a PhD programme. The course is designed to provide in-depth training and expertise in Physical Chemistry.

Teaching and assessment methods
Teaching is through a combination of lectures, workshops, independent work, group and team work, supervised study and directed reading. Assessment is through written exams, marked assignments, assessed problems, oral examination (viva voce), oral presentations and written project reports.
