Undergraduate Finance - Scholarships

The University of Leicester Entrance Scholarship is a non-repayable scholarship of £1,000 available to new UK undergraduate students who achieve at least the following:

  • AAB at A-Level including AVCE (best three A-Levels, excluding General Studies), or
  • 36 in the International Baccalaureate, or
  • DDM in the BTEC National Diploma, or
  • D2 in the OCR National Extended Diploma

Scholarship information relates to 2010 entry. For 2009 scholarship details please contact your Department.

The University also offers additional scholarships for students of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects under the new Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship Scheme.

Eligibility for the Entrance Scholarship

Students are automatically entitled to the Entrance Scholarship if they successfully apply to one of the following subject areas:

American Studies Engineering Mathematics
Archaeology and Ancient History Film Studies and Visual Arts Medical Biochemistry
Biological Sciences Geography Medical Genetics
Chemistry Geosciences Medical Physiology
Communications, Media and Society Historical Studies Modern Languages
Computer Science History of Art Physics and Astronomy
Criminology Interdisciplinary Science Politics and International Relations
Economics Management Studies Sociology

These scholarships are awarded in the first year of a full-time programme of study only. If you are not entering one of the above subject areas, you will not be eligible. Scholarships are not available for joint degrees or part-time courses.

The University will automatically assess your eligibility for the scholarship based on your examination results.

If you have applied for a tuition fee loan then your scholarship will be paid directly into your bank account in the Spring Term. You will be notified of your entitlement by the end of the preceding Autumn Term.
