Accommodation

Our top priority is making sure you have somewhere welcoming, comfortable and safe to live and we have a wide range of quality accommodation available.

Students at the University of Leicester have a wide choice of accommodation. The Oadby Student Village is located a couple of miles from the campus in a leafy, pleasant suburb of Leicester, providing an attractive environment in which to work and relax. Other accommodation nearer the campus is also available. The University will do all we can to help you find the right accommodation for your needs.

Accommodation for Undergraduates

When you apply for an undergraduate degree at Leicester, you are guaranteed a room in University allocated accommodation, provided that you:

  • Firmly accept the offer of a place at Leicester, and
  • Apply for accommodation by 1 September (in the year in which you start your course)

Students can choose from catered halls of residence or self-catered accommodation, with a range of rooms from standard single rooms to en suite and deluxe. The range of accommodation available is reflected in the Key Information Set (KIS) data on the Unistats website - find out how KIS accommodation data is calculated. The University’s Accommodation Services provide information and facilities for all students seeking University owned accommodation, whether catered or self-catered.

Accommodation booking is managed through an online system. You can express a preference for a particular hall; however this cannot be guaranteed.

Accommodation for Postgraduates

Postgraduate students can choose between self-catered accommodation in University halls or privately rented accommodation. The Students’ Union at Leicester provides support for students seeking privately rented accommodation through SULETS, a lettings agency jointly owned and run by the Students’ Unions of De Montfort University and the University of Leicester.
