We have up to £20,000 to give to projects which improve the retention of mature students or increase the confidence of widening participation students.

We are committed to widening participation and providing routes into higher education for students from non-traditional backgrounds.

The Widening Participation Impact Pot provides funding to support new projects that seek to enhance the educational opportunities of disadvantaged University of Leicester students from underrepresented groups. It has £20,000 to distribute to projects in 2016/17.

We are looking for bids from staff and students for projects that will:

  • Support the retention of mature students through the enhancement of social activities
  • Increase the employability of widening participation students by improving their confidence

Only projects that are designed to fit these criteria will be considered for funding. You can find out more on our Widening Participation webpages or by contacting Will Cooling at wpteam@le.ac.uk.

The deadline for project bids is Monday 1 August.
