University closed for Easter
From Thursday 13 April until Wednesday 18 April, the University is closed for the Easter break. Whilst we encourage students to make the most of this valuable revision time, we appreciate how awful it would be not to make use of the good weather and free time, particularly given the library’s reduced opening hours. The University’s sports and recreation facilities will be open as usual, with the exception of Good Friday (14 April) and Easter Monday (17 April) when weekend hours (8.00am - 8.00pm) will be in place.
There are many egg-citing activities and places to visit across Leicester and Leicestershire during the recess. We strongly recommend a visit to Bradgate Park in the wonderful weather and below are a couple of events which you may be interested in attending should you be spending your Easter break in the city.
Happy Easter to all our students!
Thursday 13 April (Maundy Thursday)
- The Queen will visit Leicester Cathedral for the annual Maundy Service. Accompanied by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, Her Majesty will observe the tradition of handing out Maundy money to 91 men and 91 women. The Maundy Service begins at 11.00am and will be preluded by a convoy around the city centre beginning at Humberstone Gate and ending at Jubilee Square. Big screens on Jubilee Square and beside the Clock Tower will broadcast the service and parade.
Friday 14 April (Good Friday)
- The University of Leicester String Quartet will be performing at the church of St James The Greater on London Road. The service will take place between 1.00pm and 3.00pm.
