The Fielding Johnson car park will close permanently on Monday 13 June to make way for a vibrant new space at the heart of our campus.

Our campus is set to be transformed with the creation of new central square right at the heart of campus when work begins on the Fielding Johnson car park on Monday 13 June.

The redevelopment of the car park, which has been closed for the last 12 months, will provide a fantastic central space for events. The University Leadership Team has provided funds to redevelop the car park into a magnificent multi-use venue with the ability to easily erect marquees and hold a wide variety of events, showcasing some of the very best of Leicester.

Past events held on the space have included Freshers' Week activities, the Festival of Careers and the Christmas Market, all of which have shown the potential for the area to hold bigger and better events and activities to provide an improved campus experience for both staff and students.

The work is due for completion in autumn 2016 and will also provide a much improved central area for socialising, relaxing and studying.

Disabled parking bays will be provided elsewhere on central campus.
