IT News - improvements to wifi and Chrome installed on PCs

We have made a significant improvement to wifi across the University, and due to popular demand have made Google Chrome the 'second' official University browser, replacing Firefox.

This new post is intended as a summary of recent IT news, which can be read on the IT services webpages.

Improved wifi on campus

Significant improvements to wifi have been made by IT Services, to install 567 new Wireless Access Points in 274 locations across the University campus. Read more.

Google Chrome is the University’s new additional browser

Google Chrome is being installed on all University PCs from 1 November 2016. Chrome is now the University’s additional browser. Firefox will be withdrawn at a later date. Read more.

Turnitin maintenance

Turnitin will be unavailable on Saturday 5 November 2016 between 1pm and 6pm UK time whilst maintenance is carried out. You will not be able to submit assignments using Turnitin at this time. Read more.

Maintenance affecting Blackboard

Important maintenance needs to be carried out to Blackboard on Friday 11 November 2016 during 12am and 4am. At this time, Blackboard and Blackboard Collaborate will be unavailable. Read more.

Launch of the Attendance Management for Students website

IT services have successfully launched the newly designed and developed Attendance Management Website. Read more.
