Find 500 species in the University BioBlitz, 15/16 June
- The University is holding its first ever BioBlitz event, over a 24 hour period, on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 June. The ambitious target is to identify at least 500 species of flora and fauna living on University grounds and all staff, students, friends and family are invited to come along and get involved!

Summer closure of University Sports facilities
- To reap the full benefits of the University’s recent £10 million investment in sport both sports centres have to close for a period during this summer whilst improvement works take place.

Sign up now for the Shakespeare Marathon, 18-22 June
- LUTheatre are seeking volunteers from students and staff to help with their epic non-stop performance/reading of all of Shakespeare’s works in the week commencing 18 June. There are more than 1,100 characters across the 39 plays so there are plenty of minor roles still up for grabs, many of which have only a handful of lines.

Last chance to sign up for Wednesday's 1866 Olympics
- If you haven't yet volunteered to compete in, or help out with, the Grand Olympic Festival of 1866 this Wednesday, there is still time to put your name forward. The event runs from 11.00am to 3.00pm on the Wyggeston and QE1 College rugby pitch, at the corner of Welford Road and Victoria Park Road. (The forecast for Wednesday is mostly dry.)

Call for Applications for the Dragon 100 Young Chinese Leaders Forum 2012
- The University of Leicester has been invited to nominate candidates of Chinese ethnicity to take part in the Dragon 100 Young Chinese Leaders’ Forum 2012, organised by the Dragon Foundation in Hong Kong. The programme consists of three days in Hong Kong and a five-day study tour in Tianjin and Beijing (full dates 5-12 August 2012). The theme is 'Innovation and Development in Tianjin: Manifestation of China’s 12th Five-Year Plan.'

Invitation to 2011-2012 China UK Entrepreneurship Competition
- The China-UK Entrepreneurship Competition aims to encourage new business ventures between China and the United Kingdom and is intended to simulate the real-world process of entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from early-stage investors and venture capital firms. The competition is part of the PMI2 (Prime Minister Initiative II) Connect project, supported by British Council and the Confucius Institute Initiative funded by Hanban.

Life Beyond the PhD: conference place available
- The Graduate School is offering a fully-funded place for one University of Leicester PhD student to attend the 2012 Cumberland Lodge 'Life Beyond the PhD' conference. This includes shared accommodation and meals for the duration of the conference as well as standard class rail travel between Leicester and Cumberland Lodge.
