Manor Road Sports Development Gets the Go-Ahead
At the Development Control Committee meeting of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council held on Thursday 19 May 2011 plans to develop the sports facilities at the Manor Road site were approved.
The sports pavilion, after over 40 years, has come to the end of its useful life. This old style building will now be replaced with a modern well designed facility that adds value to the surroundings and provides a swimming pool, large gym and other modest facilities to compliment and extend the sports provision on the site. The new facilities will include:-
- A swimming pool sized 25m x 6.8m x 1.2m
- An 8 person Sauna
- An 8 person Spa Pool
- An 8 person Steam Room
- A 600 sq m gym complete with CV and resistance equipment
- A 100 sq m studio to host aerobics classes.
It is anticipated that building work will commence in August 2011 with a slated completion date of late Spring 2012.
