Energy Manager of the Year nomination and Alternative travel options

Energy Manager of the Year nomination

The Environment Team are proud to congratulate Acting Energy Manager Chrispal Anand for his recent successes. Not only has Chrispal been awarded Chartered status of the Energy Institute, but he has also been shortlisted for Energy Manager of the Year Award at the prestigious Environment and Energy Awards.

Chrispal has completely overhauled energy management over the last three years through securing automated metering at all the University’s non-residential buildings for gas, electric and water. He developed the Carbon Management Plan, along with a comprehensive strategy and targets for carbon-reduction, and has been instrumental in the University being awarded a £1 Million ‘Salix/HEFCE’ Revolving Green Fund and a £40,000 grant towards the cost of a biomass boiler for the refurbishment of the Percy Gee building.

Chrispal has demonstrated fantastic commitment to improving the University’s energy performance since his recruitment and tirelessly reminds us to ‘switch off’.  He also pursued the Carbon Trust Standard, which was achieved in May 2010 on the basis of a 7.2% relative reduction in carbon over the previous three years. A great start to our carbon reduction commitment.

Fingers crossed he’ll win but it’s a huge achievement to have come this far.
