The University has learnt with regret, of the passing of John Baden Fuller who passed away peacefully on Saturday 12 August 2017.

John Baden Fuller, a Cambridge Graduate, joined what was then the very new Department of Engineering in 1964. Arriving at the University from GEC-Marconi, who were based in New Parks, Leicester, John brought unparalleled expertise in Microwave Communication to the Department of Engineering. John was a dedicated and sensitive undergraduate teacher, his book on “Electrical Fields” became a best seller for undergraduate courses and it was translated into several languages.

Retiring in the 1990s, John was a committed Christian serving in the Church of England as a Reader. He was elected to the General Synod of the Church of England and served for several sessions on this body of church governance.

John is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, son Tim and daughter in law Pauline.

John's funeral service will take place at All Saints Church, Gilmorton on Friday 1 September at 11.00 a.m. The service will be followed by a private cremation.
