We have learnt, with great regret, of the death of Dr Elee Kirk on Monday 1 August after battling with secondary cancer. Elee was a PhD student in the School of Museum Studies, graduating in January 2015, and was a Research Associate in the School of Law from August 2014, working on the Law in Children’s Lives project, until she took up a post as a Senior Lecturer at UCL in September 2015.

Dr Viv Golding, Senior Lecturer in the School of Museum Studies, said: "Elee was a brilliant scholar and an enormously kind human being, a totally supportive person to everyone she came into contact with as her peers' remarks on Facebook and Twitter testify.

"Some of you will remember the excellent inaugural lecture Elee gave earlier this year. She was a great communicator and we have a recording of her engaging inaugural lecture on our website for all students and colleagues interested in museum education. Elee is survived by her partner Will Buckingham who, as her literary executor, will be finalising the publication of her PhD thesis later this year. Meanwhile Elee’s JustGiving website stands as another testament to her generosity of spirit."
