Leicester Council of Faiths to hold vigil and balloon release in memory of those lost in Grenfell Tower at Leicester Clock Tower.

The tragic events that took place at Grenfell Tower in West London last weekend have saddened, worried and angered many. As more news is emerging of the high number of fatalities and injuries, our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and friends who have been affected. It has been shocking and upsetting to see the events unfold over the last week.

It is also important that we recognise the work of the emergency services in responding to the tragedy, whilst facing enormous personal risk, and the generosity of people from all walks of life who are providing aid and assistance to the fire's victims. Many in Leicester feel the grief of the families and friends of the victims. Like Leicester, London is an incredibly diverse city and it is at these times of difficulty that we should continue to show our love, support and solidarity.

There will be a remembrance vigil for the victims of the dreadful fire in London this evening. The vigil will take place at Leicester Clock Tower on Monday 19 June. The vigil will include a minute's silence and release of white balloons in memory of those who have lost their lives. The vigil will start at 6.00pm and the balloons will be released at 6.30pm, you are more than welcome to bring along a white balloon of your own.
