All members of staff and their families are invited to take part in what promises to be both an enjoyable and enlightening Open Day as part of the packed Summer Reunion 2012 programme especially for Leicester graduates, staff, family and friends. The event will take place on Saturday 30 June 11.00am – 6.00pm.

With a mix of mini lectures, workshops, tours and demonstrations you’ll see the University like never before from heated debates on areas of popular concern such as climate change, through to through to trying ice cream making (always very popular for obvious reasons).  You can be sure there will be something to interest and entertain whichever way you turn.

This is your ‘once in a year’ chance to invite friends and family to campus and to see those parts of our University and those leading academics and departments you have always wanted to visit.

Children will be spoilt for choice with popular fairground rides and face-painting throughout the day.  Don’t miss the ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ (aptly hosted by the Medical School) and the annual lunchtime magic show.  Free lunches are available for under 12s if ordered in advance.

Other open day highlights include:

  • 'England and the Olympics' – keynote lecture by Professor Rob Colls from the School of Historical Studies
  • 'A little Gas', Chemistry potions and explosions
  • 'You only sing when you’re winning: confessions of a football fan scholar' – John Williams, Department of Sociology

You can find out more information and book you place via the Development and Alumni website.
