Complete power shutdown and major IT disruption: 18-20 December
All IT services are now restored
This took longer than expected due to power supply issues to one of the computer rooms where IT infrastructure is located.
There is still background recovery work taking place, so you should consider all IT services to still be at risk of disruption until you receive further notification.
If you have any problems or questions, please call the IT Service Desk on 0116 252 2253 or email ithelp@le.ac.uk

Power shutdown: Sunday 19 December – Monday 20 December 2010
What’s happening with the power?
Central Networks (Eon) are enforcing a shutdown of electrical supply to central campus in order to undertake essential maintenance and service works to their high voltage distribution equipment located in the Adrian Building sub-station.
The shutdown will last up to eight hours during which there will be no mains power supply to any buildings on the main campus including the Henry Wellcome and Maurice Shock Medical Sciences buildings. Embrace Arts (the Richard Attenborough Centre) will not be affected by the power shutdown.
When will the power be down?
Power will be down on Sunday 19 December 2010 8.00am - 5.00pm. This date has been agreed as teaching will have finished and the majority of students will have left for the Christmas Vacation.
IT services extended disruption: Saturday 18 December – Monday 20 December 2010
What's happening with IT services?
In order to protect services while the power is disrupted on campus most IT systems will be shut down.
During this time we will be taking the opportunity to thoroughly test our planned response to major incidents such as power loss. This will allow us to return our systems from total shutdown as fast as possible without compromising data integrity and to mitigate against future unplanned power outages such as occurred recently.
When will IT services be down?
From 10.30am on Saturday 18 December through to the afternoon of Monday 20 December.
CFS log-on (but with restricted services) and access to email should be available from mid/late morning on Monday.
Libraries
Both Libraries (David Wilson and Clinical Sciences) will operate reduced services from 10.30am on Saturday 18 December through to the afternoon of Monday 20 December.
