Equipment and Infrastructure Fund for the support of Research – Further Call for Proposals

A further call for stand-alone proposals to the University Research Equipment and Infrastructure Fund is now open with a deadline of Friday 7 June 2013

The fund was established in response to reductions in government and research council funding for infrastructure and provides up to £2.5 million per annum over the three years beginning 20011/12. Bids this round will be for the third year of the Fund, 2013/14.

Full details of the Fund, what to consider in the case for support, and the application form to be used can be found on the RSO website here.

The following criteria will be considered in reviewing applications for funding:

Whether the equipment/infrastructure is mission-critical for the area of research

Whether the addition of the requested equipment/infrastructure would give the Leicester researchers an edge alongside competitors.

Does it take the field forward?

Does it have potential to generate income?

Applications should be for specialist research equipment and infrastructure, which could not reasonably be funded through the normal grant awarding process or from departmental or College budgets. Standard equipment such as laptops/computers or basic laboratory equipment are not included.

Applications should be sent to College Directors of Research by 5pm on Friday 7 June 2013 for prioritisation. Applications with rankings should be submitted by Colleges to Louise Thompson (lkw7@le.ac.uk) in the Research Support Office by 5pm on Friday 21 June 2013, for consideration at the cross-college committee’s next meeting.
