This course allows staff to gain new knowledge and skills in their work practices whilst using their previous experience. Designed for first/front line managers and supervisors and those moving into managerial roles it provides an excellent opportunity for the development of management capabilities that can be applied to the workplace immediately for maximum benefit.
Programme structure
The programme consists of 2 stages incorporating 4 modules out of a choice of six, each worth 20 credits plus a work based learning project worth 40 credits studied over 12 to 24 months (typically 18). All modules are supported by interactive online activities and course material.

This will be in a subject area which is relevant to the context in which the learner is working in.
Programme delivery
The programme is delivered by distance learning via the virtual learning environment Blackboard which is accessed by registered users through the internet. In cases of groups of 10 or more learners from the same company blended learning can be an option with face to face workshops for each of the modules either on-site or at the University and at an extra cost.
Assessment and accreditation
There are no exams to be taken and assessment is done by a combination of written assignments, online activities and project-based work. Successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of a Higher Education Certificate in Professional Practice, accredited by the University of Leicester and worth 120 credits.
