NeuroScience@Leicester

Welcome

Neuroscience is an exciting and continually developing field that seeks to understand how nervous systems work. It aims to uncover the intricate functioning of nerve cells and the networks that they form and, in so doing, explain how animals interact with their ever-changing environment, and find treatments for some of the devastating neurological diseases and psychiatric conditions that affect millions of people throughout the world.

MHModern Neuroscience requires a multidisciplinary approach and it draws expertise from disciplines including biology, physics, engineering and mathematics. Neuroscience can involve research at many levels of biological organisation ranging from the biochemical interactions between single molecules, through electrical and chemical communication between neurones or networks of cells, to an  understanding of the theoretical basis of consciousness.

The purpose of this web site is to provide a gateway to the diverse and thriving Neuroscience Research Community at the University of Leicester.

Use the links to find information on courses, research projects, news, jobs, how to join the Neuroscience community at Leicester and more.
