October 2011 event: English 'Riots': Civic Responses and Sociological Perspectives - October 2011
Over 130 people participated in a lively discussion that pushed the boundaries of current debate over the events of August 2011.
More than 100 people, including sociologists and students, attended the event at the Birmingham and Midland Institute.
Organisers said they wanted "members of the public to engage in a dialogue... on what happened, why, and where we are going".
