Researchers are increasingly becoming aware of the potential for dissemination of research via social media. Three ways of disseminating research are:

• Blogging
• Podcasting/Vodcasting
• Prezi 

A blog is a website where you can share news or commentary with readers who share your interests.

A podcast or vodcast allows you to share information using audio or video on the internet.

Prezi is an alternative to powerpoint that allows you to create zooming presentations that can be shown in person or remotely through Prezi Meeting.

Using the social web to talk about research can be controversial, raising issues of academic profile awareness and copyright or intellectual property. Many researchers feel that research should always be presented in traditional outputs such as journal articles and books, but there are also many researchers who are happy to discuss what they are doing online.

If you work with a team, make sure you have their permission before sharing any sensitive or commerical information.
