What's happening in Staff Development?
Information Security training for staff
Online training and briefing sessions on information security are provided for all staff and is compulsory. In addition there are Briefing sessions, see Information Security training for staff.
Job Evaluation Training - NEW
A half day course designed to give participants an opportunity to learn how the University evaluates positions and develop skills to be able to undertaken the evaluation process - Job Evaluation Training Thu 1 March 2012 (9.30am-1.30pm)
The Intrepid Researcher
A series of research methods/methodologies seminars designed as taster sessions, provided an overview of a particular research method or methodology, example(s) of its application, the benefits and its drawbacks or limitations - the Intrepid Researcher
Brown Bag Lunches for Professional and Administrative Staff
A series of lunchtime presentations given by senior University staff on the developments and challenges facing their Division/College. The second seminar 'District Heating Scheme' will be held on Thursday 29 March 2012 at 12.30pm.
Individual Learning
We are now offering Individual Learning Sessions where you will have the opportunity to work with an appropriate Learning and Development Adviser to develop/refresh individual skills. This might be more appropriate than attending a full workshop. The Individual Learning Sessions will be for a maximum of 2 hours and can be arranged at a time to suit you.
Some areas where we feel individuals could benefit from individual learning are:
- Help with preparing a presentation
- Developing assertiveness skills
- Developing confidence
- Personal organisation and time management
- Delegation skills
- Developing effective questioning skills
- Developing coaching skills
- Having ‘difficult’ conversations
