Midlands Academic Practice Network
The Midland Academic Practice Network (MAPN) is a regional group which facilitates institutional representatives from HEIs to engage in networking activities and benchmarking as well as exchanging ideas, materials and knowledge across a wide range of staff development issues.
The Network has existed since the late 1980s. It was previously known as the M1/M69 Link, but as it developed to involve further institutions, the motorway network reference was no longer fully representative of its reach. As well as being one of the oldest regional networks in Higher Education, it is also an active and a broad one. Its membership includes a number of Institutions.
The Network also has representatives from:
- The Higher Education Academy
The Leadership Foundation
The Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA)
The Network has a guest scheme where Universities outside the region may request guest membership. At present Oxford Brookes University and the University of Worcester hold this status.
The Network has at its core a sharing of practice and expertise, as well as events offered by the member institutions to each other on a free trade basis. This enables staff to participate in events run by different institutions within a geographical region.
If you are interested in knowing more about the network information can be founds at the University of Northampton's website.
