Information for MSDP Committee Members and Event Organisers

MSDP Committee

Midlands Staff Development Partnership (MSDP) normally holds two Committee meetings per annum, in May and November with participating Institutions.  The standard pattern is a 10:00 hrs start, with the agenda taking us to lunch. A professional development session follows, to finish by 15:30 hrs.  Any questions or issues relating to these meetings or associated minutes should be addressed to the MSDP Meetings Secretary, Emma Holdham.

Membership of MSDP requires that a short course or event be offered annually to the MSDP consortium by each member site. The rest of this page explains the procedures.  Any questions relating to offering or running events in the MSDP programme should be addressed to the MSDP Programme and Membership SecretaryNicholas Gallagher-Hughes.

MSDP Meetings: Paper copies (25 is plenty) should be brought to the next MSDP meeting - where all the recent events will be reviewed. If you cannot attend to present the report please email your report to the Programme and Membership Secretary, who will present it in your absence. Although places on these courses are offered within the consortium at no charge, host sites are entitled retrospectively to levy a charge to the sites concerned where booked places are not taken up.

MSDP Event Organisers

This Web page gives access to MSDP templates (see below) to assist in the promotion and organisation of these courses. Templates should be downloaded and completed as necessary, then emailed to the MSDP Programme and Membership Secretary Nicholas Gallagher-Hughes /and the MSDP Contact list as appropriate.

Committee Members should forward outline details of their next offering (using the MSDP Web Page Flyer template) to the Programme and Membership Secretary, normally by an agreed date in June/July of the preceding Academic Year so that (a) the new MSDP Calendar can be constructed in good time and (b) outline details can be provided in institutional programmes.

Event organisers have available the MSDP Event Flyer template and MSDP Event Nomination Form template.  These should be used for, respectively, promoting and populating the event. A suitably completed copy of both the Event Flyer and the Nomination Form should be sent to all MSDP contacts at least six weeks prior to the event. The closing date for nominations is normally set at two weeks before the event.

Please note that intending participants should not book direct with the providing institution, but contact their own institution’s Staff Development/HR or equivalent office. That office will then put forward their institution’s set of nominations for the particular course (priority ordered if they wish) so that a fair allocation of places can be made across MSDP sites in the case of over-demand.

Confirmation and joining instructions should be sent to each individual delegate and their MSDP contact, to include a letter confirming their place and map/parking instructions for the venue.

Evaluation forms for completion by participants at the close of the event should be based on the MSDP Event Evaluation Report template so that afterwards, the event organiser can work from the same template to construct a summary report for MSDP.

The MSDP Events Archive provides a listing of previous MSDP events hosted by member institutions.
