Nationally Accredited Programmes

As well as offering the flexibility of short workshops and on-line learning, Staff Development offer an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised management award at two levels.

Each Award covers subjects essential for all managers at this level.  These Awards can form part of your Personal Development Plan which may also include attendance at other learning activities.

ILM Awards in Team Leading (Level 2)

We offer an Award in Team Leading, a 3½ day programme recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management, for any staff who lead, or aspire to lead, a small team and have had little or no training in supervisory skills.  It is a practical programme and participants will quickly be able to apply their learning to the workplace.  To achieve the Award participants must complete three pieces of assessed work.

What previous participants have said about the course:

  • "This course has clarified aspects of being a team leader and given me more confidence and tools to fulfil this role."
  • "I now know how to confidently speak to groups of people."
  • "I enjoyed learning through participating in group activities and discussion."
  • "I enjoyed working with a wide range of people from all different departments."
  • "I did not feel under pressure or worried and enjoyed the team working."
  • "It helped my confidence."
  • "The course helped me deal with under achieving staff, setting realistic targets."
ILM Award in First Line Management (Level 3)

This ILM Award is a 4 day programme recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management, for staff who manage, or aspire to manage, a team.  It is likely that staff attending this programme will have some experience of management and/or some training in management skills.   To achieve the Award participants must complete three pieces of assessed work.
