Course Overview
|
This is one of the most useful courses that I have been on. An essential course for anyone using long documents"
Longer documents—such as reports, manuscripts, or theses, for example—can prove difficult to manage. This course will introduce the features of Microsoft Word 2007 that make creating, editing and organising longer documents more effective and efficient.

| What will I get out of this course? |
I learnt how to navigate the long document, insert section breaks, insert table of contents, did not realise it could all be done automatically. That will save a lot of time."
On completion you will be able to
- Apply and format heading styles and paragraph styles within your document
- Understand the importance of styles to automatically generate a Tables of Contents
- Format and control what is included in your Table of Contents
- Use section breaks to structure your document to enable you to set up different page numbering, headers and landscape pages for each section
- Control and format page numbering, headers and footers and page orientation throughout the sections
- Use the Outlining view, Document Map or thumbnails to navigate or review a document with clarity and rearrange information quickly and easily
Optional topics
- Insert captions automatically or manually and generate a Table of Figures
- Effectively use footnotes and endnotes
- Understand and employ indexing and cross-referencing
- Identify the limitations of the Source Manager and decide if it is right for your document
- Create a master source list, insert and format citations and generate a bibliography using the built in Source Manager
- Identify the different categories of equation elements available when using the Equation Builder utility
- Insert and edit a built-in equation or create a new equation
- Understand if and when a Master Document should be used and how to manage it.
