Course Overview

Just finding out what tools are available for communicating and collaborating with students has been very helpful.  This will certainly enable my department to enhance our students' learning experience and broaden staff's knowledge of University resources."

 

Would you like to be able to communicate with your students more easily and effectively?  Do you want to explore different ways of enabling your students to work in groups and hold online discussions?

Blackboard has a number of useful tools that are readily available to you in an environment already familiar to the students.  If you would like to find out more then this course is for you.

What can I expect to cover?

This session will show you how you can use the tools in Blackboard to improve your communication with your students and enable them to collaborate more easily with each other.  We will use ‘hands-on’ activities to show you what tools are available, how to use them and how they can help you in your teaching.

What will I get out of this course? 

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the main communication and collaboration tools available in Blackboard
  • Understand when these tools can be useful in online courses
  • Use the Blackboard communication and collaboration tools in your courses
  • Select suitable communication and collaboration tools to meet the needs of your online course

What prior experience do I need?

Delegates should either:

  • Have attended the ‘What is Blackboard?’ session

or

  • Have prior experience of using the Blackboard.
