ECDL
ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) Qualification
The University of Leicester does not offer the ECDL qualification, however there are a number of options to take this qualification at local organisations, colleges and night schools.
ECDL gives you the opportunity to improve and test your understanding of the fundamentals of using IT or using computer programs including:
- word-processing (Word)
- spreadsheets (Excel)
- presentation software (PowerPoint)
ECDL Levels
- British Computer Society (BCS)
The BCS website gives details of the different levels and the syllabus for each module.
Colleges and organisations usually offer these levels:

Learn Direct
- Learn Direct
Based in Colton Street, Leicester, Learn Direct offer a complete ECDL Extra package for approx £250 + VAT. This includes eLearning, practice tests and module tests in Office 2007. Funding may be available from them depending on your circumstances.
City Learning Centres

Based in Beaumont Leys and Crown Hills, City Learning Centres offer ECDL classroom training and eLearning exam packages, including ECDL Advanced in Office 2007 and Office 2010.
