Do you want to design and create your own database?  This course will take you through the initial stages of creating a relational database using tables and forms.  This course contains pre-course reading materials.

What can I expect to cover? 

The course will begin with a review of the pre-course learning around designing a relational database, planning your structure and relationships.  You will then create a database exploring the different ways to define and control your data and how to relate tables to each other.  You will learn how to create forms to help you enter your data.

What will I get out of this course? 
I found the course very helpful and will be able to use the knowledge I have gained from the session to create a database for the team I work in. It helped me understand the importance of breaking the data down into different tables and set up relationships."

Who is it for?

All staff.  This course is aimed at those familiar with the concepts of Access Databases and some previous experience of using a database.  It would be useful for delegates to have an idea for a database that they wish to create following the course.

Participant preparation needed?

You need to read about the principles of database design (7 pages) before attending the course.

What prior experience do I need?

Before attending: Delegates must have attended the course 'Introduction to Using an Access Database' or already have knowledge of:

  • Navigating and formatting tables
  • Sorting and filtering data in tables and forms
  • Creating and using reports
