Lynnette Matthews is responsible for developing and managing programmes for academic professional development. She is convenor of the core module of the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education and director of the University’s Enhancing Research Practice and Developing Global Approaches to Practice awards.

She is the co-chair of the PDF Committee of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) as well as being a programme accreditor and mentor for SEDA.   She is currently the external examiner for the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in HE for  the University of Birmingham and for Birmingham City University. 

Lynnette has developed professional development programmes at both national and institutional level and has twenty years’ experience of teaching in further and higher education.  She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and SEDA. She is currently writing up a PhD on the motivation of newly-qualified teachers in the post-compulsory sector.
