Mehdi is responsible for the overall coordination of Postgraduate Research Training.

Previously, he has worked as an academic in a number of UK and overseas universities such as: Leicester University, Nottingham University, De Montfort University, Massey University (New Zealand), The American University in Cairo (Egypt), and as a scientist in academic institutions.  He has also worked in R&D and industrial organisations including Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (New Zealand), and Zanzivivai Laboratories (Italy).  His training as a teacher and work experience extends from High School to Postdoctoral Education. He has diverse areas of scientific expertise in Health and Life Sciences as well as in Education, Bio-Industry Business and Management, Law (Business Law and Human Rights), and Language and Culture (The Middle East).  He began his higher education (BSc) at Shiraz University in Iran, followed by an MSc at Wye College (London University), PGCE at Loughborough University, and PhD at Nottingham University.  Mehdi has had an active research career and has many publications in international refereed journals as well as securing a few international patents. 

Mehdi has been active in technology transfer from academic and R&D institutions to industry and developing countries leading to collaboration with various overseas organisations and United Nations as a UNDP Expert.  Mehdi believes in making a positive contribution to society and supporting charity and voluntary organisations in the community.  Currently Mehdi is the independent Chair of the Hate Crime Review Panel in Leicester and a member of several voluntary organisations. He was recently given the Accolade of Volunteering by Voluntary Action Leicestershire.  With this experience Mehdi hopes to support students to develop beyond their specialist research subject and enable them to broaden their life experience and employability.
