Tier 4 (General) Student Visa Information Session

The University can assist international students in the complex process of extending their leave to remain in the UK.  The 'Visa Renewal Scheme' is operated by the Student Welfare Service.  There is an administration charge of £20 for this service.

You MUST attend a Visa Information Session if you want to extend your student visa through the Student Welfare Service. Once you have attended the Information session you will be scheduled for further appointments.  The process you must follow is:

1. Attendance at a Tier 4 Visa Renewal Workshop, where assistance is given in completing the application form and your CAS number will be requested for you;

2. A one-to-one interview with a qualified Adviser who will check the form to ensure that it is accurately completed and that accompanying documentation is complete;

3. The application form, payment, and documentation is then sent to the Home Office (Student Batch Scheme) where it is processed;

4.  Passports and documents are then returned to the student via the Student Welfare Service.

The immigration rules are constantly changing therefore we strongly recommend that you obtain professional advice in relation to visa renewal otherwise you may risk refusal.

Note: We recommend that students attend a Visa Information Session at least 3 months prior to the visa expiry date.

More information about Tier 4 can be found on the UK Border Agency Website.
