Applying for Job Seekers' Allowance
You can claim Job Seekers' Allowance by calling Jobcentre Plus on 0800 055 6688 or by applying on-line
Your date of claim will be the day of your initial contact. After this, in order to become entitled to support you are expected to attend:
- An interview when you claim;
An interview when you sign on fortnightly – you will be required to attend your local Jobcentre Plus in order to sign a declaration confirming that you have been available for and actively seeking work plus you have had no change in circumstances that may affect your eligibility to, or amount of, Job Seekers' Allowance.
- Your Job Seekers Allowance is paid fortnightly in arrears and is usually paid directly into your bank account. If you fail to sign on at your required time you will not be paid.
