Where to find a dentist

If you want NHS dental treatment, you first need to find out which dentists in your area have contracts with your local Primary Care Trust to provide NHS treatment.

• Go to the NHS Choices website or telephone NHS Direct (Tel: 0845 46 47) to find a dentist near your home who has an NHS contract
• Once you have a list of a few dentists, telephone each one to enquire:

1. if they are currently accepting new NHS patients
2. if they are not, ask when they will be accepting NHS patients and take the soonest appointment.  Once you have that first appointment, you will  be able to access continuing dental treatment under the NHS
