Living Together
It is not unusual for a household to start out as friends and then find that their friendships deteriorate over the year; here are some tips on living together:
- Agree that opinions can differ, most fallouts start with something small like eating someone’s food or on how to split bills
- Start a cleaning rota, although it may sound unnecessary it can reduce problems in the long term.
- Have a House Meeting once everyone has moved in. Be realistic about splitting chores and bills. It is useful to establish a kitty for purchasing household products.
- Be considerate, be sensible regarding noise and let your housemates know if you are entertaining.
- If you want a guest to stay for more than one night ask your housemates if this is alright – don’t make assumptions.
- If you want to keep a pet check that this is allowed – ask your landlord’s permission.
