Blooming Students

  • Blooming StudentsDo you wish your student house was a little more homely sometimes?
  • Have you ever wanted your front garden to look more like a garden and less messy?

This is a campaign to encourage all students to plant spring bulbs to spruce up their front gardens. This not only makes the area more attractive to live in but also helps to make the area look less attractive to burglars.

In November the university will be giving out free bulbs, compost and pots for you to plant in your front gardens. There will be volunteers handing out bulbs and some flower pots, for those without gardens, on the main Victoria Park pathway leading to Queens road on Wednesday 23rd November 1-3pm. Alternatively you can email ch118@le.ac.uk to arrange collection from the Student Welfare Service.

We will then be running a ‘before and after’ photo completion in late march where you submit a before and after photo of your front garden to show improvement. Entries will be judged by members of the university and local community and prizes awarded for the best front garden and for the one showing the most improvement.

If you would like submit any pictures so far please email ch118@le.ac.uk with any images.

The compost in this project has been sponsored by 'Petersfield Growing Mediums' in Cosby and 'Oasis' in Hoby Plant Centre. The bulbs has been donated by Goscote Nurseries in Cossington.
