Festival of Postgraduate Research 2010

Thursday 24th June 2010. Explaining the real world implications of research projects at the University of Leicester

For the sixth, successive year, the University of Leicester will be holding its one-day exhibition of postgraduate research. This event offers organisations and the general public, as well as the wider community, the opportunity to meet the next generation of innovators and cutting-edge researchers. The University of Leicester is one of the UK’s leading research institutions, with a large community of postgraduate researchers working at the forefront of a range of disciplines.

Fifty competitively selected postgraduate researchers will present their research at a public exhibition held by the University of Leicester. The researchers will be asked to consider the real world implications of their research and to present it in an engaging and accessible way.

Presenter at Festival 07

“I really enjoyed the day.  It gave me a chance to make new contacts which may prove useful for current work and for later on in my career. Talking about my research and getting positive feedback was really rewarding. It also gave me the chance to see what other research goes on in the University.”

Abigail ThompsonArts/Social Science Presenter 2007

"Explaining my work to non-scientific people gave me the chance to look at my work in a very different way. This has helped me by refreshing my ability to see the broader implications/applications, and also how far the projects have evolved since they began. I also feel that I gained knowledge on presenting to different audiences.”
