Mind and Body
After a stressful day at university, there is nothing better than the high energy environment of the dojo. Leicester University Karate Club (LUKC) can give you the fitness, skills and confidence to be able to defend yourself, as well as the chance to learn the complex art of Za-Zen meditation, focussing the mind, (especially helpful around exam periods).
For over 25 years the club has had the privilege of being taught by Richard (Rick) Jackson (8th Dan), one of the highest graded Karateka’s in the world. There is nothing like being taught by the best to fully understand and develop a new skill. With Rick’s wealth of knowledge and skills, you will find no better teacher to show you the way of the warrior.
LUKC is available for any level; lower grades not only benefit from Ricks’ teaching, but also from that of the other black belts. There is also the opportunity to take part in competition fighting, such as the BUCS championships, from which last year we brought home two bronze medals and are looking for fresh talent to improve this performance.
