Did you know?
- In a typical year over 6,000 students (from Reception to Year 13) attend activities at the University’s Botanic Garden
- Since 2000, Summer Schools have involved over 1,000 students from the East Midlands Region
- Over 600 Year 10 students participate in University Experience Days on campus every year
- In 2007 over 600 students took part in GENIE’s ‘Dynamic DNA’
- Staff from School and College Services attend over 70 HE Fairs and 80 talks in schools/colleges annually
- In 2008 Contact Student Volunteers clocked up over 10,000 volunteering hours in the local community. Nearly half of this time was spent volunteering with children and young people
- Contact volunteers’ extensive involvement in literacy programmes in schools and other projects means that over 1200 children/young people will have interacted with a University of Leicester student in an average year
- Our main Open Days each attract over 4,000 visitors
- Approximately 2,000 visitors attend our specialist Medicine Focus Day including over 800 prospective students
- In total, the University welcomes over 30,000 school and college students to the campus every year
