The University of Leicester offers a variety of Masterclasses across our subject areas aimed at Year 8-9, Year 10 and Year 12 students. We focus on these year groups as we believe hvaing a taster of a subject may help inform students' GCSE and Post 16 option choices. If you are interested in a subject based experience for any other year group, then please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can look into this for you.
As part of a Masterclass our academics provide an exciting taster of their subject area and our student societies run subject specific workshop in support. It's a great way for students to ask questions of our current university students and to find out what being a University students is all about.
There are three different levels of Masterclass:
- Discover - an introduction to the subject for students with no prior subject knowledge.
- Explore - for students already studying these or similar subjects, who wish to expand their subject knowledge.
- Challenge - for students with prior subject knowledge designed to challenge gifted students.
Our masterclasses are aimed at students from the widening participation cohort and for this reason priority is given to these groups and individuals, however we welcome applications from all schools.
