The University of Leicester offers a programme of Masterclasses in a variety of subject areas aimed at Year 8 / 9 and Year 10 students. We focus on these year groups as we believe hvaing a taster of a subject may help inform students' GCSE and Post 16 option choices. If you are interested in a subject based experience for any other year group, then please email us at and we can look into it for you.

Academics from the University of Leicester provide an exciting taster of their subject. There are three different levels of masterclass:

  • Discover - an introduction to the subject for students with no prior subject knowledge.
  • Explore - for students already studying these or similar subjects, who wish to expand their subject knowledge.
  • Challenge - for students with prior subject knowledge designed to challenge gifted students.

Our masterclasses are aimed at students from the widening participation cohort and for this reason priority is given to these groups and individuals, however we welcome applications from all schools.
