As a new student with the University of Leicester you will have access to a wide range of induction events designed to help you settle into your life as a student and get the most from the University's facilities and resources.

International students welcome week

Each year the Student Welfare Service run an international students welcome programme for new international, EU, Study Abroad, and Study Group students.

This introductory 'welcome' week is specially designed to help you settle in to living in Leicester. The programme includes sessions giving advice and guidance on important issues such as health provision, opening a UK bank account, obtaining part-time work, safety and secuity. Numerous social events and trips should help you to meet new friends and experienced current students will be available throughout the week to answer your questions.

Vice Chancellor's Address to New Students

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sir Robert Burgess, will be addressing new undergraduate students from the UK in a speech at De Montfort Hall on Monday 1 October at 9.30 am. The speech is expected to last about an hour and you do not need to have a ticket or book in advance.

Fresher's Fair

The Students' Union organise a number of events for new undergraduate students in the first week of the new term. Details can be found on the Students' Union website.
