Valid visa to study with us

If you are an international student (non-EU) you must have and keep a valid UK visa that entitles you to study with us throughout the duration of your studies.

When you start your course you must provide evidence of your visa at a Visa Checkpoint. If your visa is due to expire or becomes invalid you must apply for a new visa and provide evidence of this to the Registry in the Fielding Johnson Building.

If you do not have a current, valid visa throughout your studies, or if you fail to provide evidence of this as requested, you will not be able to register or continue studying.

If you are a new student with an overseas fee status, but you hold a current British, EU, European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss passport, you must attend a Visa Checkpoint where we will need to see your passport. You will not need to provide any further evidence of your immigration status during your studies.

International Student Support

The International Student Advisors are trained to provide immigration advice. They can also help you to make a new Tier 4 General visa application, or complete the permission to switch (PTS) form.

If you use this service they will provide you with evidence that you have made your visa application or sent your PTS form. You can then use this as evidence to help you register.

They are located in the Percy Gee Building or contact them by email or phone on 0116 223 1185.
