Professor Sarah Hainsworth’s project on the sharpness of knives and how this can impact on the outcomes of stabbing cases in court has helped her become one of the foremost forensic experts in the field.

Published by the Royal Academy of Engineering in their publication Ingenia, her project and expertise were also featured in the Guardian, the Economist and BBC Scotland feature, The Buckfast Code.

Professor Hainsworth, of the Department of Engineering,  is also spearheading the University’s £1 million high-tech Engineering Materials Integration Centre (MaTIC), which will impact on diverse areas, such as climate change, transport, forensics and drive innovation in the industry. The centre was featured in The Engineer, England’s East Midlands, Science Newsline, London Press Service and many energy and engineering related websites.

The Press Office is located in the Division of Corporate Affairs and Planning in the Fielding Johnson South Wing, which also houses the Peter Williams Lecture Theatre. The Office is on the first floor, above the AVS Design Studio and Reception.
