HEliX offers a series of survey instruments that map directly against the HEliX framework.  One of these has been designed for use by senior executive teams (the most senior VC board or cabinet type group of perhaps 6-10).  Rather than using the self-appraising spreadsheet (which is designed for senior professionals responsible for staff communications) we recommend that senior managers are invited to respond to an easy to complete survey of about 60 questions that should take no more than 30 minutes. 

This questionnaire asks summative-style questions that relate to each indicator of good practice and allow respondents to make suggestions/raise issues.  Copies of the questions can be downloaded  for printing and distribution or for you to convert into an online survey.

We recommend that if the senior management group is using HEliX as a means of facilitating discussion about internal communications and staff engagement, then both the lead HR and Communications professionals be asked to complete the survey too.  Given the small sample, the results are unlikely to be confidential or statistical robust; indeed it is important that they are not seen as such and are simply viewed as a means of stimulating open debate amongst the management group.
