HEliX Health Check is designed to be used by directors of communication or HR as a simple method of self-appraising your institutions current practices using your own professional judgement.

We have created a spreadsheet driven tool that can be downloaded and used on your computer.  It guides you through the HEliX framework, introducing you to the types of practice evidence that will help you to make a sound appraisal of your university.  This self-assessment should take you about an hour.  The results give a fairly thorough overview of strengths and weaknesses, and the tool helps you to prioritise the elements that you believe are important to your institution.

Having downloaded the tool, you have permission to circulate it to colleagues in your university - if a small group of informed professional and managers complete it and you aggregate the scores you are more likely to obtain a rounded perspective on your current position.  The self-assessment scores can be saved locally for future reference and can be used as a useful primer to meetings designed to discuss staff communications practice.
