Dealing with school requests
Schools and colleges will often approach Departments directly if the Department has featured in the media, a teacher has an interest in a particular subject or has a contact in the University.
We would recommend that an acknowledgement email is sent to the teacher to confirm that you have received the request and will be able to confirm within a week. In that time, in order to ensure you are using your time effectively, we would suggest that you get in contact with us to check the following:
- Is the institution a priority school in terms of recruitment, Widening Participation or subject popularity?
- Is there already a similar event due to take place at the University which the school will be able to join?
- Has the school already arranged an event with the University?
We will inform you of the above and if you would like to work with the school, we are happy to advise on logistical elements such as school buses on campus, risk assessments, catering and event evaluations.
In addition to these aspects, to ensure that the event also makes effective use of a school’s limited time, the Student Recruitment team offers an input regarding the more general elements of University.
If Departments would like to employ any of our fully trained University of Leicester Student Ambassadors to work on an event, this can now be organised direct through Unitemps who can be contacted at unitemps@le.ac.uk.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of a school visit, please contact any of the Student Recruitment team on outreach@le.ac.uk or ext. 2674.
