The University's Brand Proposition

In a crowded marketplace, universities must occupy a distinctive position in order to be successful.

If a university attempts to occupy a position already owned by another institution the most likely outcome will be that it is seen as a second rate imitation. The marketplace for universities is very crowded, making the identification of distinctive territory difficult.
