School and HE connections

Date/time: Wednesday 5 April 2017, 10:00am-11:45am
Location: Charles Wilson Belvoir Park Annexe, 2nd floor, Charles Wilson Building

This co-hosted event will help to launch an exciting new collaborative project with teachers from Beauchamp College, Leicester. This collaboration will involve school and HE teachers and students working together to develop shared understandings about how learning is supported and assessed at different levels. This includes opportunities for University of Leicester academics to spend time in the school classroom, witnessing at first-hand how their own discipline is taught at GCSE and A Level. These insights will help us to develop our own approaches to supporting students’ transitions to HE study. Likewise, Beauchamp College students and teachers will benefit from learning more about how different disciplines are taught and assessed in HE. The purpose of this initial event is to discuss how we can develop this collaboration to mutual benefit of staff and students at both institutions.

Who is this session for?

Academics and other members of staff interested in building links to better support student transitions to HE study.
